Pain Management Doctors

Pain Management DoctorsPain Management Doctors

There are two types of pain management doctors. They range from the completely legitimate pain management doctors to the shady pain pill pushing dealers that hold a license to prescribe narcotics. For those people that experience severe, chronic pain and want to have a better quality of life through pain management, legitimate pain management doctors will provide you with the most relief using several different therapies. On the opposite end of the spectrum, are people that meet certain requirements that go to pain management clinics that are operating in a technically legal way, to obtain narcotics. The pain management doctors in these clinics are known to prescribe the maximum medication allowable, for the flimsiest of reasons to people that for one reason or another could not get narcotic medication from legitimate pain management doctors.

Legitimate Pain Management Doctors

Legitimate pain management doctors normally work in a Pain Treatment Center. The Center will have a staff of several doctors, physician assistants, nurses, lab technicians that can draw blood and perform urine drug screens, physical therapists, support staff and may have an in house psychiatrist or psychologist. Some pain management doctors perform medical procedures on their patients that require operating rooms with anesthesiologists, nurses and supporting staff and their clinic may have those services available on site. You will usually need a referral from your family physician to get an interview with legitimate pain management doctors. During your first visit, you will be examined by the doctor and psychiatrist. The clinic will go over the rules that you will need to follow in order to continue as a patient once you have been approved to be treated by the pain management doctors. They will do a urine and blood drug screen. Only current prescription drugs should be in your system. The pain management doctors will discuss different treatment options they may use to help you manage your pain. They may order additional MRI’s, X-Rays or tests to complete your medical condition profile, before they decide to accept you as a patient. Ninety-five percent of the time you will NOT get any medication prescribed to you on your first visit to legitimate pain management doctors. After you have been accepted as a patient, a second appointment will be made for you to see pain management doctors. At this appointment, you may or not be drug tested. Your vitals will be taken and you will be asked if you have seen any other doctors and what medications you are currently taking. The doctor will examine you and ask you some questions about your pain. The doctor will recommend treating your pain with any of the following treatments: narcotic pain medications (usually a low dose to start), muscle relaxants, trigger point injection therapy, facet injections, radio frequency therapy and physical therapy.

Barely Legal Pain Management Doctors

Barely legal pain management doctors may or may not drug test you. If you are drug tested, it is usually a urine drug screen. As long as the medication they are prescribing you is visible in the results, they may ignore any other illegal or prescription drugs in your drug screen. These pain management doctors usually do not accept insurance of any kind and require you to pay in cash or with a credit card.
